5 Best Holiday Movies to Watch With Your Dog

The holidays are the perfect time to grab some hot cocoa or egg nog, cuddle up to your pup on the couch and watch some Christmas movies.

There are a ton of holiday movies that you can watch, but we think it’s a good idea to watch Christmas movies that feature dogs when we are sharing the couch with our pup so here are our picks for the 5 best holiday movies to watch with your dog.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The classic Dr. Seuss animated film is a staple for most families during the holiday season. In my book, Max is the true hero of the story.  After all, he was the one who had to wear the antlers, pull the big sleigh and drag away all the gifts from Whoville. He was also more ethical than the Grinch and cringed every time the Grinch does something selfish or wrong.

Christmas Vacation:  Who doesn’t love Snot?  The big Rottie with a sinus condition who destroys the house when chasing a squirrel.  He was just trying to keep this family safe. He also has the propensity to go through the garbage can looking for food.  Despite all his wrongdoings, it is hard to not love Snot and not to laugh during the entire movie.

A Christmas Story: There is not just one main dog in this story, but ‘785 smelly hound dogs’. Yes, they eat the Christmas day turkey so the entire family ends up at a Chinese restaurant, but still a funny movie to watch with your dog so they know what NOT to do on Christmas Day.

A Charlie Brown Christmas: Not really a movie, but a Christmas show that can’t be missed.  Who doesn’t love Snoopy and all his antics? We especially love seeing him dancing around to Schroeder’s piano as well as when Snoopy vs. the Red Baron.

A Dog Named Christmas:  Nothing better than a sappy Hallmark movie to put you in the holiday spirit.  This one is about 10 years old, but still a good one. A developmentally challenged young man with a penchant for caring for animals in need sets out to convince his family – and their whole rural community – to participate in a local shelter’s inaugural “Adopt a Dog for Christmas Program.”  It’s a warm and fuzzy movie.
